How much do I love thee, let me count thy ways. Seriously though, I need to give a shout out to the makers of @MarcoRaffine colored pencils! I’m always on the lookout for new mediums. So what a suprise when I checked my mail and found a box of Marco Raffine pencils! I immediately opened the box just to inhale the new pencil aroma. Now don’t laugh at me. You know you’ve done it too. So sit back and let me tell you a story of how I came to be a cheerleader for Marco Raffine.

It was late before I made it to the mailbox on Saturday. To my suprise I have a package that turned out to be a 72 pack of @MarcoRaffine colored pencils. This is exciting because I dont own any Marco Raffine pencils. At least I didn’t up until now! Upon opening the box I seen that two of the tips were broken off. Considering the abuse they probably went through going through the postal service I consider that pretty darn good. My, what a beautiful assortment of colors!
So for a couple of days I just looked at all those colors. I wanted to make sure I used them for the first time on a page that was special to me. And so the hunt began. I chose a page drawn by @missycolors. Its a beautiful clump of flowers with a tuft of grass. I could just see the blending of colors all over this page. I formed a game plan and went to work. I picked a soft yellow to help me with the highlights for all the petals. Now for the true test, the blending of the colors. I think this is the point where I fell in love with my marco raffines. They blended so smoothly! With just a slight pressure change of the hand the shades went from light to dark right before my eyes. The variety of colors give you numerous color combinations. Although each pencil is numbered there is no name on them. (Ehh, I can learm to live without that.) A big plus is the actual pencil color used as a visual color identifier on the unsharpened end of each pencil. Who wants to spend all their time pulling out pencils to read what color it is when we can just look at the tips? Not this girl!
And so my love affair with Marco Raffine pencils has gotten off to a great start. I have recieved the biggest compliment I have ever gotten since using them. It came in the form of a question. I was asked if I had painted that clump of flowers by #missycolors LOL The answer is “no”. I used my Marco Raffines and a dark green Sharpie for shade on the leaves and a black @Sharpie for the center of the flowers. BUT yes, Marco Raffine is that good!
If you have been undecided about purchasing some Marco Raffine coloured pencils I’d give them a try! And to the makers of Marco Raffine, I thank you!

Some come with a color chart, others dont. I made my own and hunted down the names 🙂

I was thinking about getting these for my niece and my sister asked about the lead type. She wanted to know if they were lead and pigment or if they were oil or wax based. I don’t know anything about them.
Do you know what type of lead is in them?
